Mini Dental Implants

Another type of dental implant for you to get your head around now (you will be experts in this before you know it) The mini-dental implant is, well, I guess the name gives it away. It’s a smaller form of implant which was originally designed to be a temporary solution before a larger, permanent implant was fitted.  However, as research and the industry as a whole, have progressed, they are now considered to be very useful implants in their own right; particularly for replacing smaller teeth or incisors.  They are placed into the jawbone, just like other implants but, because they aren’t as big, they don’t fuse easily with the jaw bone as other types of implant might. However, despite this, they are considered  a useful way of stabilizing lower dentures, particular in patients who are at the older end of the age scale.  Sometimes older or ill patients may require a bone graft before implants can be fitted but some people, for obvious reasons, are unwilling to go down this road and thus mini dental implants emerge as a viable alternative to major surgery. Both immediate loading and delayed placement can be considered with this type of implant.
